Today sucked.

This pretty much sums up my day.

ipod

Because of this, I had to listen to the radio in my car. I found out that the local radio stations are playing the same music they played when I was in high school.

Here is where insult is added to injury.

I have known for a while now that I need a new computer. So I've been putting aside money when I can to save up for a new computer and babying along my poor old laptop. If I buy a new iPod it won't work with my old laptop. So to replace my iPod I also have to replace my computer.

I looked at cheap replacement mp3 players today when I was out but it felt like I was giving up so I'm going to try and live without my best friend and soul mate iPod while I save up for a new computer/iPod.

How did your iPod 'die'? If it's just a battery, get yourself over to ebay, buy the appropriate battery, and patiently wait until your package arrives, idling away the time by googling 'changing ipod battery' or some such combination of words to find a tute on the actual mechanics.

It was pretty easy: pry, disconnect the wires holding the two halves together, change battery, reverse, snap, charge, presto change, an ipod with a longer battery life than before.

I've brought my 4th gen ipod back to life, after it spent a year in the bottom of a drawer where I had hidden from sight out of grief of loss.

And you want to know what? The apple store had told me it would be 90$CAD+ to fix, and I did it myself for about 20$.... I figured I had nothing to lose because I was already without my beloved tunes. I know the shiny new ones are tempting, but in the meanwhile, while you are squirreling away your money, this is a pretty cheap and easy fix.

Heather, Thanks so much for your suggestion. My iPod just didn't turn on one day. I will look into getting a new battery. Thanks! <3 Carly
